Education! Puppets!

Yes, those two can go together

My fine arts career led me in mysterious ways to pursue another masters, now in early childhood education. I'm excited to have graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hunter College and to return to teaching.

Below you can see some of my prior work with students of different ages, from around the country, in public schools, museums, national festivals and cultural centers. I hope you will enjoy these short excerpts

P.S. 024

A lovely 3 hour workshop at PS24 in Brooklyn, with 1st graders. The theme was family and the students created family members, later interacting with one another while dancing and having fun!

Finger Film Action @ Nation Puppetry Festival, 2013

On Wednesday morning I had the privilege of teaching a workshop at the NPF that took place at Swarthmore college. I had twenty two participants, all adults but one kid, and we had a blast. I presented some of my finger-dancing films and talked about how to dance in style, how to make little boots, and what to think about when one is performing in front of the camera. Being silly was necessary, but serious with our intentions. It was a wonderful three hours, and I took the footage home and edited it for you to see your work and enjoy the fruits of our labor!
Thanks for everyone's participation, and help in making this workshop happen.

CMoM

A lovely workshop at the Children Museum of Manhattan, varied in ages. Organized with the help of the American Israeli Cultural Foundation. Shachar is on camera.

The Battle

This workshop took place at Arts@Renaissance, wherein I had my solo exhibition in the spring of 2012. For a duration of 3 Saturdays kids and adults gathered and created puppets and were then filmed by Shachar, making up their stories as they go along. The results were funny, lovely, surprising and cool. This piece was made by two brave adults!

Pirate and Lady

Another gem from the workshops conducted during my exhibition at Arts@Renaissance. One adult and a few kids together on set!

Irondale Cultural Center, Brooklyn

Kindergarten age, the parents joined us in a fun workshop of creating the puppets and performing together. Parents always end up making a puppet themselves... A big thanks for Dalit and Moti for helping out!
